Inspiration From Caspar David Friedrich

I was browsing around the internet, looking to be inspired by other sites and photos centered around the word wanderer, and was astonished to find this treasure. It's a painting created in 1818 by Caspar David Friedrich titled "Wanderer Above The Sea of Fog".

Wanderer Above The Sea of Fog Wanderer Above Cumberland Gap

I instantly related this image to a photo taken of me while visiting Cumberland Gap back in 2000. I've always heard how art imitates life and this is pretty darn good proof. 182 years later a photo is taken of me (AKA, The Wanderer) standing on an outcrop in a similar fashion with a slight fog blowing through the valley below.

I feel this shows just how long people have been fascinated by nature and the many vast landscapes that await those who seek them out. Friedrich intended this photo of himself to represent his passion for nature and finding solitude at the far reaches of civilization. Seeing as he entitled himself "Wanderer" makes his painting even more suitable to represent the very essence of who I am.
