Dry Creek ORV Area - Kentucky Dualsporting

Description

900 acre Corps managed off-road vehicle recreation area. Lots of wooded trails for all levels of experience. Some singletrack can be found, but most of the trails are ATV width. Lots of small to midsize water potholes and ruts that are unavoidable with some larger ones scattered around that are usually avoidable. The place gets muddy, but you can probably avoid the worst of it if you are a little selective on your trail choices. Don't get in a hurry and you'll come out just fine. The place is definately ATV country first. As I like to say, it's KLR doable, but not KLR country.

Trip Report

We visited a bit too soon after several weekends worth of rain. Most of the trails had a glaze of mud on the surface which kept things interesting to say the least. The mud was pretty bad in places and had us all wondering what we got ourselves in to. We did find some dry trails as we made our way to higher ground, but getting there can be tricky. Some of the hills require pretty decent riding skills to accomplish in one shot. Most of us found ourselves needing help to pick the bike back up and/or get a little push from the others. Overall, the place sparked our interest and we want to go back when it's dry to see how much better it might be.

Location

Facilities

Nothing at the parking area, not even portajons that I can recall. For us dualsporters, however, there is a sandwhich store just up the road. Friendly people and great food. Also has a restroom. If you head back east to 139 and head north on 139 for about 4 or so miles you can find a small gas station.
